In association with our UK based alliance partners, LBC Wise Counsel, we are able to offer consulting services to assist individuals, in-house teams and law firms with their strategic development and operational effectiveness. This ensures that their services are delivered in an efficient and value adding manner.
Legal & Commercial Solutions is not a traditional management consultancy. We are run by lawyers for lawyers. Our consultants have all worked in the legal profession for many years and have a deep understanding of the issues and opportunities faced by the in-house lawyer. Through our alliance with LBC Wise Counsel, we are able to offer international best practice and a wealth of experience gained in South Africa as well as the highly competitive and developed markets of Europe and the USA.
Our team has access to our proprietary tools which have been used extensively by numerous major corporations to assist with the assessment of operational effectiveness, benchmarking, strategic insights and resource management.
We are able to assist with budget analysis, review of external relationships, quality and processes for outsourcing work (LPO), knowledge management, document management and law firm selection.
Law firms in Africa have not traditionally used management consultants to help with their strategic development, personal development or operational effectiveness. Perhaps this is because lawyers have doubted that traditional consultants would truly understand their business or their work. Legal & Commercial Solutions is not a traditional management consultancy. We are run by lawyers for lawyers. Our consultants have all worked in the legal profession for many years and have a deep understanding of the issues and opportunities faced by law firms and legal professionals.
Need some insight into where the legal services industry is heading globally and in Africa? How well equipped is your firm for the challenges ahead?
In association with our UK based alliance partners, LBC Wise Counsel, we can assess whether your firm has the skills and competencies to deliver ever more valuable and efficient services and to provide a strategic plan to improve delivery. This plan may include:
- Running focus groups with your teams to discover the opportunities and obstacles that arise from your business development plans.
- Developing communication, presentation, sales and marketing skills for your professionals.
- Communication audits to evaluate the effectiveness of your internal communication and knowledge management.
- Client satisfaction surveys.
- Business development and strategic planning opportunities.
- Panel review and pitch preparation.
- Identifying and then delivering “what the clients wants” training sessions.
- A road map to implement plans for growth.
Our mentoring and coaching is suitable for junior legal advisers, senior executives, CA’s, associates and partners. We adopt a supportive and forward-looking process to unlock potential, maximise performance and bring about change.
Our one-to-one sessions are conducted in absolute confidence, giving some of the best and most up-to-date advice and guidance around.
Whether you select a single session or a tailored programme, we are confident you will benefit from an interaction with one of our consultants.
Coaching – Programmes start with an initial meeting to consider particular development objectives. These might include building profile, leadership, managing change, team development, delegation skills, presentation skills and relationship management issues. After this there is total flexibility to run the agreed programme as best suits the individual, but it would usually include a mix of one-to-one meetings and contact by phone and email.
Mentoring – Mentoring includes elements from the more formalised coaching programmes, but is much more of a support mechanism – a place to share thoughts and ideas and to have an opportunity to talk. We would normally recommend setting up a series of off-site one-to-one meetings over the course of a year and as much telephone and email contact between meetings as is required. Sometimes just one meeting may be sufficient and, if that is all you would prefer, then of course, that will present no problem.
Our approach to fees is totally flexible and tailor-made to meet your specific needs.
Our preference is to avoid hourly-based billing. We are willing to work on a fixed fee or fixed price basis and have retainers in place with several clients. We welcome the opportunity to share in success based fee structures.
We have even allowed clients to pay us what they think is a fair fee – no questions asked!
